| Bio: | Name: Marie (nee Amiot) Chabert Birthdate:August 18, 1873 Age: 67 Citizenship: (French/German/Other) French Loyalties: Resistance Occupation: Owns and operates Chabert Bakery Background: Marie, in her youth, was very beautiful and quite vain. She came from a fairly well-off family and had quite a few suitors of great refinement and taste. Everyone was quite surprised when she ran off and eloped with a baker's apprentice. She had fallen in love with Rene Chabet, the young man who delivered the family's bread. Her family disowned her, but she could not bring herself to care. Love (and poverty) changed Marie. She became less concerned with her looks, and more concerned with the welfare of those around her. Her and Rene had six children together - and scrimped and saved until they could open their own bakery. Five of their children survived until adulthood, all of them married and with children of their own. Some of them live far away and write, some live close and come to visit. When Rene died of a heart attack five years ago, the family urged Marie to let someone else take over the bakery, or to sell it and move in with one of her children. Many arms were open to her - but she gently refused. What would she do without the bakery? And how could she let Rene's pride and joy go to anyone else? She has assistance in the bakery from several employees and her family occasionally comes to help during busy times. Marie misses Rene very much , especially in these troubled times. Lately things have not been safe in the city - and when Marie makes her bread deliveries, she occasionally delivers with them a note or a message from someone who is afraid to be seen in public. When the Resistance becomes more active, naturally she will offer to take their messages in this manner as well. Special Skills/Abilities: excellent cook and baker, good business woman, somewhat charismatic and good with people. She knows how to make money and ingredients stretch, which is good in these times. Personality: Marie is kind hearted and generous, but also a good business woman. Those seeking to take advantage of an old lady might be surprised to find that she is sharp as a tack, and not going to back down. She is not afraid to take reasonable risks, though she is not foolhardy enough to make rash decisions. She isn't afraid of death, as she believes in an afterlife where she will be reunited with her beloved Rene. She is very loyal to her family, and likes to help her friends. Appearance: Grey-white hair, a little thick around the middle, average height. Her face is careworn, but her eyes are still clear and sharp. | |||||||||
